I just bought a used filing cabinet from a garage sale. It's a 2 drawer, metal cabinet and the metal is "painted" to look like wood. I bought it because it was cheap and I need something immediately to help store all of these papers laying around that I can't throw away.

Anyway, for some reason, the cabinet doesn't have a built in frame for hanging files....but it does have these metal rods that go into holes drilled into the sides of the cabinet. The cabinet only came with 2 of these rods, and I don't believe they're for hanging files on because in the middle of each rod, there is a large, square shaped dip. And the drawers aren't deep enough that the files would hang on the sides either.

So, what are these rods for? I also have no idea who the manufacturer is or where the cabinet was purchased. Please help!
